• Dance-Drama-Music Unit: This Unit is entrusted with the task of implementation of programmes and projects relating to various forms of performing arts. Over the years, the Akademi through this Unit has organised several editions of State level Drama festivals, Shumang Leela festivals, classical as well as folk dance festivals, traditional as well as contemporary music festivals, lectures, workshops and seminars.   

• Literature & Publication Unit: This Unit is responsible for implementation of programmes and projects pertaining to literature and publication. Through this Unit, the Akademi has been organising literary festivals, lectures, workshops and seminars etc. Several books on Manipuri culture and literature, both in Manipuri and English have been successfully published. A bi-annual journal in English, Manipuri Culture and Literature is also being published since 1976.   

• Fine Arts Unit: Entrusted with the task of promoting visual art, the Fine Arts Unit implements programmes such as Art Exhibitions, art camps and workshops, lectures etc. This Unit also looks after an art gallery which showcases rare and precious artworks Akademi Award-winning artworks as well as artworks by legendary Indian artists including K.K. Hebber, K.G. Subramanian, Jatin Das, Sunil Das etc.   

• Library: The Akademi Library has one of the largest collections of books on art and culture in the State. Every year the library collects many valuable books in English and Manipuri, periodicals on different subjects of culture such as dance, music, theatre, fine art, literature, archaeology, architecture, history, museum, as well as religion, philosophy, reference books, etc.

• Archive & Museum Unit: The Akademi Archives & Museum Unit carries out the task of preservation of traditional Manipuri culture in all its aspects. Its main works is collection and preservations of documents, manuscripts as well as artefacts and other museum pieces which are in private collections.

• Documentation Unit: This Unit documents the programmes carried out by the various other units and also executes a project on documenting the life and works of eminent cultural and literary personalities of the State.

• Accounts & Establishment Units: The Accounts Unit coordinates the activities relating to accounts and financial matters of the Akademi and the Establishment Unit deals with the general administration of the Akademi.
