Manipur State Kala Akademi has been publishing an English journal since 1975. Formerly entitled Quarterly Journal, the publication has been rechristened Manipuri Culture and Literature thus aptly reflecting the texts and themes of the publication. The journal, which has now become a bi-annual, predominantly focuses on Manipuri literature, art and culture. It offers the readers features such as poems, short stories, drama, book review, essays and critical writings on art, literature and culture. Many eminent Manipuri writers and scholars have contributed to the growth of this periodical over its more than four decades of existence. Manipuri Culture and Literature has also been flexible enough to accommodate literary pieces from Indian and world literature & art while at the same time, serving itself as a bright platform for young and emerging writers. Since most of its contents are English translations, it does not amount to exaggeration to state that the Akademi journal has played a huge role in disseminating Manipuri art and literature to the outside world, which is, in fact, one of the main objectives for which the Akademi was founded in 1972.

The Akademi journal has an Editorial Board, a Guest Editor and an Assistant Editor which collectively looks after the content and quality of the publication. Articles for publication are both requested from select writers as well as openly invited.

Articles may be submitted to the office of Manipur State Kala Akademi, Khuman Lampak, Imphal – 795001, Manipur or emailed at editor.mskajournal@gmail.com

Copies of the journal are available at the office of the Akademi and also at leading books stores in Imphal.
